02 Social First

Purpose

Nectar needed content that could live naturally in the feed, not just advertise the product. I developed social-first concepts around trends, humor, games and cultural moments to make the brand more entertaining, recognizable and worth following beyond the drink itself. It also gave us a flexible space to test new ideas quickly and respond to what audiences were already paying attention to.

Approach

The goal was to keep the content inventive without ignoring the rhythms of the platforms. I developed original games, cultural concepts and audience-driven ideas, while also using trends strategically when they offered a natural fit. Each concept I wanted a clear way in for the viewer, something that invited them to guess, comment, recognize themselves in it or simply desire to see what happened next.

My Role

Social Strategy · Creative Direction · Concepting · Production · Editing · Casting · Posting · Captioning

I identified social opportunities worth pursuing and shaped them into concepts that felt specific to Nectar, from the overall video idea, to the hook and audience mechanic through casting, production and final edit. Performance and audience response then helped determine which ideas we repeated, evolved or moved away from.

Selected Work

At a local festival, we turned a familiar party game into an interactive brand moment where attendees could win a free Nectar by finishing the lyrics to a song. The format combined audience participation, humor and product sampling into a concept that worked both as an in-person activation and social-first content.

Community Games

We brought Asian pop culture trivia into a live event that naturally overlapped with Nectar’s target audience. The format used entertainment, cultural relevance and product sampling to strengthen brand identity while creating content that felt native to both the event and social.

Culture-Led Trivia

At a Filipino festival, we challenged attendees to identify calamansi, a culturally familiar fruit featured in one of Nectar’s new flavors. The concept turned product education into a playful identity test, creating an easy entry point for humor, audience participation and conversation both in person and online.

Product Discovery

We adapted emerging social games and formats through Nectar’s brand world, using familiar mechanics with a product-forward twist. For this concept, a trending can-matching game became a subtle way to build product recognition and visual familiarity without turning the video into a traditional ad.

Performance

Performance Snapshot

Social-first concepts gave Nectar a flexible way to generate attention outside of direct product messaging. The strongest pieces earned organic reach while expanding the ways audiences could encounter and interact with the brand.

What Worked

The strongest concepts had an immediate entry point for the viewer. A question to answer, something familiar to recognize, a game to play along with or a payoff worth waiting for gave people a reason to stop instead of just scroll past.

What we learned

The strongest response came when the brand entered an existing conversation instead of trying to create attention from scratch. Cultural specificity, audience participation and recognizable formats gave viewers an easy way into the content, which helped inform the kinds of concepts we continued developing.
